An Ode to Ithaca:
An Ode to Ithaca
I love you in your summer,
In your warmth and in your charm.
I love your mountains, your gorges,
Your earth and your gray sky.
I love your quiet beauty, your caring cautious hands.
I love the way you smile, its contagious,
And I love the way you dance.
You sway, you breathe,
You hold me, and you tell me it's okay.
So I cry and I fuss, I defy because I must
But I know that you are right.
I know that I must go.
So I flee leaving part of me
In Ithaca
My sister's home.
If ever there were a place deserving of my sister, it's Ithaca.
The place has a beauty I can't quite put to words (though I try because I must). I love the people. I love the scenery. I love the way it makes my sister's eyes light up when she sees it on a map.
I love that stupid place, its shitty tacos, its college students, and its trashy front lawn solo cups, and I know that you do too. I can't pick a fight over this, but I'm sure that you can. So I'm waiting and I'm smiling about Ithaca.
